## Übersicht

Die meisten Pflanzen sind nichts als Pflanzen. Sie wachsen, wo Boden und Wetter ihnen zusagen, sie nähren Mensch und Vieh, und ein Kräuterkundiger vermag zu sagen, wozu sie taugen, ohne ein einziges Mal Magie zu bemühen. Einige Pflanzen jedoch verhalten sich anders: sie speichern Magie oder wachsen dort, wo nichts wachsen sollte. Die alchemistischen Grund-Transmutationen scheiden gemeinhin die einen von den anderen - doch nicht immer ist die Grenze leicht gezogen, und eine Pflanze, die unter dieser Methodik keine Wirkung zeigt, ist darum noch keine Pflanze ohne Wirkung. Mehr als eine stand schon jahrhundertelang vor aller Augen, ehe jemand herausfand, was sie in sich verbarg. Begehrt und berüchtigt - und selten - sind magische Pflanzen aus Mathras, von denen es heißt, sie haben ein Bewusstsein entwickelt.
